It has shown considerable promise for colon health (1,2), liver health and prostate health (3). A new study (4) suggests a benefit for heart health in relation to atherosclerosis.\n<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\nEighteen rabbits received one of the following diets for eight weeks:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\nRegular diet, with no document describing its composition.\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\nRegular diet enriched with 1% cholesterol.\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">\nRegular diet enriched with 1% cholesterol and 0.2% curcumin.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\nIn addition to blood samples after eight weeks, researchers collected blood-vessel samples to measure atherosclerotic lesions.\n<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\nAfter eight weeks, the percentage of aortic atherosclerosis was 84.2% lower in the curcumin group than the cholesterol group (37.3 versus 5.9%,<br \/>\n<span dir=\"LTR\">P &lt;0.05<\/span><br \/>\n). No changes were observed in cholesterol<br \/>\n<span dir=\"LTR\">HDL<\/span><br \/>\nin the curcumin group compared with the other two diets.
